Come see for yourself!
Here's how to find us from the Phoenix area. Either head northwest out of the Phoenix metro area on Highway 60 (Grand Avenue) to Wickenburg; or take the I-17 exit west toward Lake Pleasant (Hwy 74) to Wickenburg. Turn north (right) at the stop-and-go light in downtown Wickenburg onto Highways 89/93 (Tegner Avenue) and continue just a few short miles, past the stop-and-go lights at Vulture Mine Road, and another mile or so to the turn-off of Highway 89 north toward Prescott. This straight stretch of highway takes you past land destined for new housing development; North Ranch - a popular winter visitor spot for retirees; mini-horse ranches; and into the growing Congress, Arizona community.
After Congress you’ll pass the “frog rock” on the left and its’ namesake restaurant on the right. Then comes the turnoff to Stanton … a great side trip if you have the time! Stanton (and other towns like Octave and Weaver) sprang up after the incredible 1863 gold strike of Paulino Weaver and his men, who found large gold nuggets on the ground on top of Rich Hill … said to be the largest placer find in Arizona.
Continuing up Highway 89 from the Stanton turn-off you’ll quickly ascend 2,500’ feet winding your way easily up the divided highway and to Yarnell. At the top of the hill is the Skyline Gas Station and the Ranch House Restaurant … a down home breakfast and lunch café that’s been a mainstay of the community for years. Across from the restaurant is Lakewood Drive which takes you into the Glen Ilah area of Yarnell where you’ll find nice homes, and great people, tucked into the oak trees and boulders that make this community a treasure!
From the Ranch House Restaurant, Highway 89 takes you quickly into historic Yarnell. Watch for Hill Top Realty on the right – kitty corner from the Post Office – and stop in for local area maps and free information! Hill Top Realty has provided services to the community for over 50 years! Make sure to visit The Shrine of St. Joseph and our local art galleries and shops like Rosewind Gallery, The Painted Lizard, Kokopelli’s, and Hearts and Flowers antique shop. Fill your coolers with ice and goodies from the Yarnell Trading Post and eat at one of several cafés in town before heading North.
Just 3 miles or so North of Yarnell takes you into some of the most beautiful grazing land Arizona has to offer. Behind the trademark 5-rail white pipe fences of Maughan Ranches and the dark wooden fencing of Hidden Springs Ranch you’ll find cows and calves, ranch horses, breeding stock bulls, and race horses. Just North of the Mountainaire Mini-Mart is Hays Ranch Road which takes you into the residential communities of Peeples Valley. Properties here often have mountain views and wide open space, but further “out in the hills” you’ll find remote acreage with boulder outcroppings, pinon pines, juniper and manzanita bushes. Some properties are “off the grid” with electricity coming from solar panels and generators!
Further north on Highway 89 you’ll pass an unmarked road to 20-40 acre parcels in Ruger Ranch, and further north Wagoner Road turns off and takes you past some breathtaking ranches and available land from just a few acres to 80 acres or more. County 15 turns to the west at Kirkland Junction Go 4 miles or so to a stop sign at Iron Springs Road (and the Kirkland Bar and Steakhouse) and turn right for a gorgeous drive thru Kirkland, Skull Valley and on into the northwest corner of Prescott.
Staying on Highway 89 takes you through the community of Wilhoit, largely 1-3 acre parcels with a mix of site constructed and manufactured homes … then the final 15 miles twist and turn through forest land and into downtown Prescott.
